The sun beat down on one of the hottest days we had seen so far at our Sports Day this term. Again we returned to the excellent venue of St Mary’s University College; where our girls competed on the Sir Mo Farah Athletics Track within their Houses – Burney, Elizabeth, Sheridan and Houblon. The girls rose to the challenge of the professional facilities, loved the long jump and high jump pits, alarmed us at how far they could throw a ball, shot put or discus, and thrilled us all with some very close races. Lots of new records were set, some old ones broken and enormous cheers occurred throughout.
Our Upper School Swimming Gala followed in a similar vein at Teddington Pool and events ran at a cracking pace and almost without a break. The Year 3 girls, swimming their first gala, rose to the occasion and the older girls demonstrated both what a depth of talent there is in the school and what great camaraderie there is among the Houses as everyone was cheered to the finish. There were great individual performances and six new individual and relay records set.
