Our annual Prize Giving, which takes place at Richmond Theatre at the end of the summer term, is a wonderful event which celebrates the achievements of our girls and this was no exception. Prizes are awarded across a range of subjects and this year we were fortunate to have the inspiring Kiko Matthews as our guest speaker. Kiko set a new world record at the beginning of this year by becoming the fastest woman to row single handed and unsupported across the Atlantic. She delighted us all with stories of her epic journey, made all the more remarkable by her recovery from tumours caused by Cushings disease in 2009 and last year. This would not have been possible without the care and expertise of all at King’s College Hospital and she has been actively fundraising for the hospital charity, already accumulating over £100,000. Her message to the Old Vicarage girls was very much one of resilience, of always trying your best and not being afraid of failure – principles we hope all our girls will remember throughout their time at the Old Vicarage and beyond.
