Year 5 had a wonderful time experiencing elements of Viking life and spent the day working together in small groups.  They each tried making wooden shields and sewing sails that would eventually attach to a 6 metre scaled longship.  The rivets of the ship were tricky to fasten and necessitated great team work; there were over 200 over them.  Using a drop weight loom, the girls were able to weave thread they had spun earlier in the day, to make a nice piece of fabric.  The workshop was the first of its kind at OVS and it is planned to invite the company back for future year groups to enjoy.
