Friends of the Old Vicarage

T he Friends of the Old Vicarage, to which every family belongs, perform a vital role in ensuring that new parents are welcomed, have all the information they need and are an initial social link on which many lasting friendships are based.

Representatives of each class meet regularly to feed suggestions to the school and disseminate information from it.  We welcome their input and the ideas of all parents through our open door policy and the formal channels such as the Year Group Coffee mornings and surveys.

The Friends run many events throughout the year to provide fun to all the school community.  These include events for the girls, such as the Christmas fair and party and the Upper School Disco; events directed at the parents, such as a highly competitive quiz night and also a fathers’ interschool cricket friendly against parents of neighbouring boys schools.  The Friends also raise a lot of money for the school for wonderful extras, such as playground games, the total refurbishment of our library and IT suite in recent years and numerous items that are welcome additions in the classroom.  The largest fundraiser is the annual summer fair but with the second hand uniform, towel and Christmas wrapping paper sales all contributing significantly.
