Trips & Visits

Richmond is ideally situated to allow us to make use of the many historic sites, museums, theatres and facilities of London and its surroundings.

All the girls are taken on regular trips to support their work in the classroom, extend their knowledge and provide challenges as well as new experiences.  Locally based trips include Barnes Wetland Centre, Polesdon Lacey, Kew Gardens, various local places of worship to support the learning of different religions, the Science Museum and many more. Each year teachers add different visits to our repertoire.

We also welcome a host of visitors to the school to present talks and workshops to the girls. Many of these visitors are our parents and we welcome their involvement in the girls’ education. We also have had ‘Zoolab’ and a Planetarium take over our hall as well as dance and yoga workshops as part of our wellbeing week.

Residential Trips

Year 3 go for one night to Juniper Hall, a short drive away in the Surrey Hills.  They have two action packed days of outdoor adventures, team building and games.  They return glowing, having developed more self-confidence, independence and also had a great deal of fun.

Year 4 spend two nights away and recently we have visited Hooke Court in Dorset. Here the girls have been exposed to Saxon life and practised their own storming, cooked potage and baking bread, and made a wattle and daub fence.

The intrepid spirit continues in Year 5 when the girls attend a PGL centre, stepping out of their comfort zone and tackling low and high ropes courses amongst other physical and team building challenges.

Year 6 finish their time at the Old Vicarage with a longer trip to a chateau in France to enable them to practise their French, sample French markets and continue with the team building theme established in previous years.

A highlight for many girls in Years 4, 5, and 6 is the biennial week-long ski trip in the Easter holidays, which in recent years has been to Flogarida in Italy. As many as 50 girls and 10 staff have enjoyed the quiet slopes, excellent snow, delicious food and camaraderie. Swimming, treasure hunts, talent shows and a disco have all added to a tremendous week.
