Getting to School

Walking, Cycling, Scooting

Many of the local girls walk, cycle or scoot to school. There's a scooter park to safely store bikes and scooters during the school day.

School Minibus

For those living a little further afield we run a minibus service in the morning and afternoon.

There are currently two morning minibus routes and one afternoon route:

  • Morning Route 1  picks up girls between the far reaches of Barnes (near Hammersmith Bridge) and White Hart Lane and then drives directly to School via Pools on the Park to drop Upper School girls for early morning swimming.
  • Morning Route 2  picks up girls from Ham and Petersham and then drives to East Sheen. It turns around at Sheen Lane and works its way back to School via Pools on the Park to drop Upper School girls for early morning swimming.
  • Afternoon Route  takes girls home to East Sheen and Barnes.  There is no afternoon service to Ham and Petersham.

We will attempt to meet requests for additional bus stops and we are currently exploring extending this service to those in the Teddington/Twickenham area.

Public Transport

Richmond is blessed with great transport links. The nearest bus stop is a 5-minute walk and Richmond Station (tube and overground trains) is a 12-minute walk.

School Travel Plan

We are proud to have been accredited with a Gold Level award by the STARS (Sustainable Travel: Active, Responsible Safe) programme.  This award recognises our achivement and commitment to road safety, reducing car use and encouraging increased levels of active travel and use of public transport for the journey to and from school.

STARS is TfL’s accreditation scheme for London schools and nurseries. Its purpose is to inspire young Londoners (and their parents) to travel to school sustainably, actively, responsibly and safely.

By developing and implementing our School Travel Plan, we encourage pupils to adopt a healthy lifestyle, give them the skills and confidence to travel safely and help them understand how their actions will make a positive contribution to the future of our environment.
